Asocials were groups of people defined by the Ministry of the Interior as having demonstrated, by repeatedly breaking the law, their unwillingness to adapt to the natural discipline of the National-Socialist State. The category "asocial", influenced by the racial hygiene movement had already been used during the Weimar republic in the early 1930s. Examples of "asocials" were beggars, nomads (Gypsies), alcoholics, and prostitutes who carried infectious disease. Another group of asocials was "evaders" - people who for no logical reason had refused to accept jobs or who quit jobs for no justifiable reason. Many of these people were interned in concentration camps; some were forcibly sterilised.
